Contributing to the New Disability Stratagy - "Fulfilling Potential" Events:
 
On 1 December 2011, the government announced a discussion with disabled people to gather suggestions for a new cross-government disability strategy. The Government’s ambition is to enable disabled people to fulfil their potential and have opportunities to play a full role in society.
 
To realise this ambition, the Office for Disability Issues wants to tackle barriers to realising aspirations and individual control, as well as change attitudes and behaviour towards disabled people. This new strategy will build on previous discussions with disabled people, including the Independent Living Strategy, the Roadmap and the UK’s report to the UN on implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Disabled People.
 
As a result, BuDS has worked with the ODI to facilatate 3 discussion events where we would like to hear from disabled people, and the people and organisations that support them on what would enable them to fulfil their potential. 
 
All events are free to attend. Buds may arrange and pay for taxis if you are unable to access the meetings by public transport. Please choose a date most convenient from the list below and confirm your attendance by phone or email. Details are found at the bottom of this page.

7th March 2012 11:00 - 14:00: Stoke Mandeville Stadium. Guttman Road, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP21 9PP (The Buds AGM will also be held on this date after the main discussion session)
