Aylesbury Shopmobility moved to a new purpose-built facility in the Upper Hundreds car park on 6 September 2010. The service provides walking aid, wheelchair and mobility scooter hire, free of charge, to anyone with reduced mobility. Aylesbury Vale District council says the new premises offer a more user-friendly waiting room as well as new disabled toilet facilities and there are dedicated parking spaces for Shopmobility customers. Pedestrian access has also been improved at the Britannia Walk entrance to Upper Hundreds car park.
Councillor Pam Pearce, Cabinet Member for Community Matters, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to visit Aylesbury town centre. Shopmobility does a fantastic job in helping people with mobility issues. We have invested in creating a brand new facility to support the needs of this very important service, this can only help shoppers and businesses.”
The service is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, and Saturday 9am to 1pm. The telephone number is 01296 336725.
