Pro Tem Chair of Trustees
For over 20 years, I had a successful career in central government, television and various national charities until, in 1994, while working for an international aid agency, a visit to Central Africa led to an extended spell in hospital. I now have a permanent long-term health condition which significantly affects my mobility and general health. Being hit by a car in 2006 made my mobility even worse!
Since becoming disabled, I have tried to turn my personal experience to good use as a Trustee of Disabled Parents Network, BuDS, and as a founding member of the Buckinghamshire LINk and its Chair until September 2010. I was also a ‘user-representative’ member of one of the Bucks County Council Project Boards which introduced Self Directed Support in Bucks. I have a young family for which I am the primary carer.
