Equality Act 2010 comes into force

The majority of the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 have come into force from 1 October 2010.  The Act is designed to simplify and strengthen existing legislation and thus to protect people from discrimination on the basis of factors such as disability, gender, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity.

Rights for disabled people on buses and coaches

The European Parliament has proposed new rights for disabled passengers using buses and coaches.  The UK government is not supportive of the proposals and the RNIB are calling on people to act now on this rare opportunity to improve access to transport.
